Boston Bookclub

Because we like to write a lot of emails, because we have trouble reaching a consensus, because we're busy people, and, most importantly, because we all have fascinating insights into literature... we are making this space the space where we do all things 'book club.'

July 6th sounds fine
Fine with me, too.
July 6th is ok with me as of right now. We have Monday off from work ,but i don't see htat causing a problem.....

How is July 6th for everyone else???
I say let the naming of a new day begin...I think it is important for us all to be there. We have changed/pushed back the date so many times really what is one more. I am pretty open going out after the 4th of July. Does July 6th work for anyone?

Okay - we've now got 5 for Tues. June 29. Do we like Salem for the location?
If we leave at about 6 (scoop up Abby from work), we should miss the traffic and be up there in 30-45 minutes. I think it'd be a welcome change of pace - and certainly book appropriate!
Maggee, Abby, Jen - does that date do you well???
I too can make Tues. the 29th!!

Tues 29th works for me too
Tuesday the 29th works fine for me.

Sunday the 20th is Father's Day and there is a good chance I am going to be in NH with my Dad. The weekends coming up, in general, are really bad for me. I might be able to do Friday the 25th or Sunday the 27th? I would prefer a weekday, if at all possible.
I would have to agree that sunday afternoon or early evening in salem at the cafe would be a great idea ! Does this sunday June 20th work for everyone????? I don't mind taking people up there in my vehicle so we can carpool. it wouldn't make sense for everyone to take separate cars.....

Might I suggest a Sunday evening bookclub so as to allow plenty of time for a journey north to Salem, where we can dine at the Witch's Brew Cafe at 156 Derby Street. Or, since Sheila will be teaching, Tues and Thurs nights work fine for me (or Friday, Sat. Sunday!)

Favorite Menu Items - Clam Chowder, Philly-style cheese sandwich
Comments and Suggestions - This place has got to be one of the hidden treasures of Salem's restaurants. Tucked away in what appears to be a small house edifice, the Witch's Brew is an amazing place to enjoy a meal. The atmosphere is wonderful, and the conversation was easy with any and all who were attending that day. Of course, the locals know about the place, and I had the great fortune of having it suggested to me for lunch, and it paid off! Many travelers do not know about this wonderful cafe, and need to find out! It is located on Derby Street in Salem, on the street that runs along the waterfront, and just down the street from the ship in the harbor (The Friendship). I would recommend this place to anyone that will be in Salem. If I could pay the airfare, I would fly to Boston, take the scenic drive up Rt 1A to Salem, and enjoy this place all over again.

Hello Girls-
I hope everyone is doing well. Sorry I have been sooo MIA. It has truly been the week from hell, but it is all over now. As for book club, Mondays are looking good, but I should put something on my calendar sooner rather than later...you know how things book up!
I'm out of town Monday the 14th, but any time other than that is fine by me. I'm liking the Salem idea as well.
I am pretty much available any Monday this month as well.
