Boston Bookclub

Because we like to write a lot of emails, because we have trouble reaching a consensus, because we're busy people, and, most importantly, because we all have fascinating insights into literature... we are making this space the space where we do all things 'book club.'

Hi everyone, Apparantly I've been smoking way too much crack, b/c I'm going to NM on the 4th of March for 10 days so obviously will not be here for the 10th....So, feel free to meet without me. If you wanted to reschedule, which would leave Kelly in the lurch :( , I'll be back on the 14th...but don't worry about it. I totally blanked when I responded that I'd be able to...

Sweeeet - I had a business trip to NYC scheduled for March 7 but now it's been cancelled so I am free and clear for BookClub. Will pick up the book tomorrow, hopefully, and be able to read a good chunk on the plane ride home :)

See you all very soon!

I have to run out and get the book too, but should be able to finish by the 7th. I have to make up for my sabbatical anyway.
I haven't even started it either, but hopefully I should be able to have it done by the 7th....

Eek! I haven't started, nor do I even possess the book (yet). But the 7th is open for me - I'll just have to make it happen - i can't tarnish my perfect bookclub record :)
7th works for me! Abby..the Appleseed would be perfect!! Too bad we can't bring it to Boston. Any other thoughts on local to meet? Nothing jumps to mind for me. I am thinking cosy, low-key and low-cost...there must be someplace that fits the bill.
Happy Monday Ladies! Since Kelly requested that we schedule the next bookclub while she is here, I thought we should start thinking about a date- sometime between now and March 12, right Kel? Which pretty much looks like March 7, I think. How does that look for all of you guys?

Hi girls-
Just wanted to update the blog from our last meeting:

First, this months book is "In the Lake of the Woods," by Tim O'Brien. I am close to being done with my copy, if someone else needs it just let me know!

Second, there were some honorable mentions (i.e. books I really liked, but did not make the list), that I said I would post:

1. Middlesex-Jeffrey Eugenides
2. Map of Love-Ahdaf Soueif
3. The English Patient-Michael Ondaatje
4. Interpreter of Maladies-Jhumpa Lahiri
5. West with the Night-Beryle Markham
