Boston Bookclub

Because we like to write a lot of emails, because we have trouble reaching a consensus, because we're busy people, and, most importantly, because we all have fascinating insights into literature... we are making this space the space where we do all things 'book club.'

The book for September is:
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, by Mark Haddon.

I'm back in town on Sept. 22, and have the following nights available to meet (yep, planning is tough...!) Sept. 23 (f), 26 (m), 27 (tu); or October 3 (m), 4 (t), or 5 (w). ALternatively, I will be back for the 19-21, so maybe then? But hopefully sooner (more soon?)!

Who is doing the inviting of Sari and Cari? Just curious...

Cheerio ladies!

Who's list is it? I think it is either Kelly or myself. Kelly do you know? I am actually pretty sure it is you Kelly. Are you up for a list? Do you think you will be in town this fall to discuss? As I am backtracking through the books we just read. There was Kite Runner (Kathy), Our Man in Havana (Sheila), not much before that we read The Eight (me) so that would leave Kelly seeing as she is the only other member left in Boston.

The 29th works for the 3 full-time book clubbers. Sheila is encouraged to attend even if she hasn't read the book to help discuss the future of book club. Kelly can come too as an "on leave" book club member.
Shall we say 7:30pm? My only idea was Outback steakhouse, the only one close to boston is in Medford.
Or we could just pick someplace nice and/or convenient. I will have just moved over Kelly's place so harvard square could be convenient.

Phatt Boys is where Rock bottom used to be, our main characters is worried about being fat (?)

I "survived" the book and am ready to discussed. The Outback is a great suggestion to get us that "Down Under" feel. Both Monday's work for me.

Who is up for the list?

Following up on Kathy's mention of Cari's interest, how many of us are left? Is it just 4-Cat, Kathy, Sheila and Myself? If so, Sheila-maybe you should come too (book unread) if you can squeeze it in to discuss the future of book club (and yes there will be a future), consideration of new members, format, etc.

Oh hey, one for the discussion at the meeting, but Cari expressed interest if we were taking on newcomers, so just throwing it out there before I forget again.
I'm down (under) with either one of those days so I'll go with majority rule. I have yet to finish the book, but that's mainly cause I got busy and set it aside. I was waiting for the scheduling nudge to pick it back up again, so here goes......
I'm a "Survivor"

So I finished the book ages ago and now I am officially putting pressure on people to "name the date". The (slight) upside to there being fewer of us is that we should be able to pick a good day fairly easily, right?

How do the monday's 22 or 29 strike people?
suggestions for locales?
Outback Steakhouse because that's where the plane is heading?
