Boston Bookclub

Because we like to write a lot of emails, because we have trouble reaching a consensus, because we're busy people, and, most importantly, because we all have fascinating insights into literature... we are making this space the space where we do all things 'book club.'

The Book has been chosen!

And the winner is.....My sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult

A close second was Henry and June...

Since the book takes place partly in Cambridge, we could convene at my place?

I finished the book, poolside on Christmas day. In the shado of an active volcano. sigh. Very different than the snow storm infested Boston I have returned to. sigh.

I thought Sheila was on hiatus from bookclub? Even still I recall that some people do not get as excited about Indian food as me. sigh. Takeout is an admirable compromise. But we still need a venue. I'm not sure that my place is well suited. 4 people eating birthday cake in my living room was a bit cramped, so more people eating more courses would be difficult.

The 10th is fine with me.

I am free pretty much every day that you mentioned.....
I am not a huge fan of Indian food either, so I'd second the option for takeout....
The 10th sounds good to me, but I am free the other nights as well if anyone has any other preferences. I have finished and loved the book and I'm ready to discuss!!!
The holidays are over and hopefully that means everyone's schedule will be a little less hectic (maybe). I have finished the book and talking to several other people, they have too! So, lets start discussing when we might be able to meet.

Unfortunately this coming week is crazy for me with work. So I would suggest starting next week. I could do it Tues. Jan 10-Thur. Jan 12th or the following week Tues. Jan 17th-Thur. Jan 19th. Preferences?

Also, what to do for food? Indian is the obvious choice, but I think an Indian restaurant is out for Sheila's sake (and anyone else who may not like Indian). I suggest doing Indian Take-out for those who enjoy it and then alternative takeout for everyone else. Other suggestions??
