Boston Bookclub

Because we like to write a lot of emails, because we have trouble reaching a consensus, because we're busy people, and, most importantly, because we all have fascinating insights into literature... we are making this space the space where we do all things 'book club.'

As a matter of record keeping (even though everyone was there last night)
We are reading Middlesex: A Novel by Jeffrey Eugenides
We will be meeting the fourth MONDAY of the month Starting with January 22, 2007.

Although Erin gets the honors of creating the next list, I nominate the following http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/0919637264/ref=pd_rvi_gw_3/103-7142695-5231843 How to Date a White Woman: A Practical Guide for Asian Men (Paperback) by Adam Quan

Sorry guys, 7:00 is a little bit of stretch for me since I'm still working at The End of The Earth (but not much longer!!!). Can we do 7:30?
If people are doubtful on whether they can get there at 7, I say 7:30 because so many restaurants won't let you sit down until all are there. If people want to get there earlier, we can get a gin and tonic at casablanca's downstairs. That's where I'll be if anyone wants to join me.

Oh, Maggee is supposed to provide the next list.
Earlier is better for me because I have to travel on Wednesday and have an all day meeting (yes, 9am-4pm with a second meeting scheduled during my lunch break and a 90 minute ride on both ends....not looking forward to Wednesday). Can people do 7 or is that too much of a stretch for everyone? Worst case I can always just leave early. Looking forward to seeing everyone again!
Just to confirm we are talking Tues. Nov. 28th right? 7:30 is a touch better for me, but could probably be there for 7:00pm too! Cafe Algiers is perfect...love it.

Later,
Erin
7:30pm ? Does that work better for everyone?
Sounds good to me. What time should we meet? 7:00?

Man - this is the funniest thing I've read all month! And completely not what I was expecting to see here! Awesome.

This quote almost made me snort hot tea out my nose...

Money Quote:Fergie on her own "heavenly" singing abilities: "Singing is a gift from God, and when people say I can't sing, it's kind of like insulting God." (All Headline News)

Haaaaaaa!!!
I'm going to use that line of reasoning to defend my dancing!!

Hi there!
I've been broadly basing my travel schedule around the last week of the month, so I think 4th Tuesday is a good setup! I'm in for the 28th and look forward to discussing The Stranger - one of my favourites! Bring your heavy brooding Euro-intellectual mindset - it's all about Existentialism :) For the venue, I suggest either Tangierino in Charlestown (very cool Moroccan place), or Cafe Algeirs (a bit more casual) in Harvard Square (the heart of pretentious intellectualism).

28th sounds good to me! As a side note, today Nov 7 is Camus birthday. Happy Birthday Albert!

I am good with keeping the current method of going on the 4th Tuesday of the month...The 28th is good for me....
