Boston Bookclub

Because we like to write a lot of emails, because we have trouble reaching a consensus, because we're busy people, and, most importantly, because we all have fascinating insights into literature... we are making this space the space where we do all things 'book club.'

Hi

I'm sorry, I am teaching on Mondays and Wednesdays.

I have class in Harvard Square until 7:30pm and can't get away from the students until about 8pm.

Would Tuesday the 16th still work for you all?

If it has to be Monday, can I request a Harvard Square location? then I can at least make it late...

By the way, I apologize for picking such a long book... I was suprised when I started to read it... I will be more careful next time.

Regards,

Wendy

Seems like Monday the 15th is the consensus since Aaron cant' do Tuesdays. I was the one originally that couldn't do Monday's but v-ball is now on Thursdays so we're good to go!!! :)

Are we looking to push back the meeting to have some extra time to finish the book? If yes, I am all for it...I have been making good progress, but am still only about half way through and will definitely not be done for this upcoming week.

Right now could make the 15th or the 16th, but that could change. Am going to have to do a bit of travel for work in Oct.

Later,
Erin
So we mean the 15th or 16th of October, right?

I can do either! I thought there was someone that couldn't do Monday, should we plan on Tuesday the 16th?
Either monday or tuesday would be fine.

in other news, Feast of Love (a bookclub selection from ages ago) is a movie, coming out next weekend

I could do Monday but not Tuesday.
Would the week of the 16th work? either Mon or Tuesday?

Hey Folks,

I'll be in town that week... would love to make it to book club! Let me know which night... and a big woot! for the Golden Temple (although going on a saturday so we could indulge in cheesy club night would be even better ;)

I work until 7 on the 24th, but only until 5 on the 26th, so the 26th would work better for me...

The winner is:

Bonfire of the Vanities.

Either date should work for me too! Love Golden Temple!
Either Mon or WEd works for me, either day. V-ball is now on Thursday's (for this season) so it doesn't matter to me! Yum, Golden Temple! Crunchy orange chicken!!! :)

Anything works for me and I LOVE the idea of Golden Temple.
I would actually prefer Monday or Wednesday as well this month, as I have a sewing class for 6 tuesdays, starting the 25th. No need to schedule book club around this, but since you're asking anyway :) I prefer a non-Tuesday this month.
I teach on Monday's from 7:30pm until 9:30pm and on Wednesday's from 4:30pm until 7:00pm.

I could do Wednesday 9/26 somewhere near campus.

Would the Golden Temple on Beacon St work for you?
The theme "gold" for money... ;)

The Golden Temple is located at 1651 Beacon St, Brookline MA 02445 (617) 277-9722.
Hi All, I just signed up for my first graduate level class - yay! The class is only 6 weeks long so can we change the September book club date? Instead of 9/25 could we meet 9/24 or 9/26?

Sorry for the delay, just was able to check blogger today. I am in too will see you at cafe Stoli at 7:30!

Later,
Erin
I think that the decision has been made. So, far I only count 5 as coming for sure (Cat, Leigh, Wendy, Aaron, and myself). Is this accurate? I'll call ahead and see if we need to reserve a table.
So... do we have a decision? Is it cafe Stoli 7.30 then?
HI everyone, I will not be able to make it. :( I am in NY with my family b/c my mom is in the hospital (she's getting out today, thank god). I will be back in Beantown tomorrow...But enjoy dinner and discussion! I'll get the scoop from Nicole....
Either is fine with me. It looks like 7:30 is preferred which also works for me.
I'll be there! I've wanted to try Jacob Wirth's. Either restaurant looks fine. 7.30 is better for me. See you tonight = )
I'm in.
I'm definitely in! I also vote for Cafe Stoli. 7:30?

I vote for Cafe Stoli. What does everybody else think? How many people are going to make it?
Apparently Bohemia is a region in the Czech republic. I did not find any Czech restaurants in Boston. but it borders, germany, and poland.

So thinking of that part of Europe I came up with Cafe Stoli in Brookline Village for a russian place (entrees are $18-23 but there are lots of appetizers): This might be the place we went when we read Anna Karenina but I can't recal exactly.

and Jacob Wirth's in the Theatre district.

Has small plates for $10 plus bigger entrees. Parking can be a challenge but the boston common garage should only be $9.
Any thoughts about where we are going to dinner tomorrow night?
