Boston Bookclub

Because we like to write a lot of emails, because we have trouble reaching a consensus, because we're busy people, and, most importantly, because we all have fascinating insights into literature... we are making this space the space where we do all things 'book club.'

Love the gift exchange idea and the website to randomly assign us! Works for me.

Olivios looks good...perhaps a dunk'n donuts run after?

See you on the 8th!
Sounds great! There's a Restaurant Olivio in Arlington...maybe that's close enough to count?

Great idea, Cat!
No objections!~
The 8th works. How about Dunkin Donuts? Har!

Love the gift exchange idea! But it would be nice to know who we are buying for to make it more personal.

I found this website that could help us randomize the gift giving:
http://www.secretsanta.com/

It looks like they set up a little website like Evite. You RSVP if you will be participating and then it randomly matches you. Any objections to using the website?
The 8th works for me... enjoy your Thanksgiving! I am so thankful for your friendship! :) Wendy O.
I am in for a gift exchange!
There's Olive's in Charlestown but it's wicked expensive. I'm sure we can find something!
I love the idea of a gift exchange! Also, ideas for restaurants... something with "Olive" in the name of the restaurant? There are others besides Olive Garden, right?
Hi Ladies,
Since we're meeting on Dec 8th, and won't have a chance to draw names in advance, I was thinking this year for our holiday activity we could just do a gift exchange. Everyone brings a $15 - $20 gift, something suitable for any one of the lovely, literate, intelligent ladies in book club, and we can either draw numbers, or do a yankee swap (or...). What do you think? That way we do a little something to celebrate the holidays in bookclub... Post yout thoughts!

The 8th works for me as well.....If I don't see you all before Thanksgiving hope you have a great holiday!!!!
The 8th works perfectly. Ideas on where to eat?
8th works for me!
Forgot to mention: I don't think we should meet without Sara since it was her book.

Sari, we will miss you! Does that mean Wendy does the next list?
The second Tuesday in December (the 8th) works for me. How about everyone else?

Hello - I would like to postpone until after Thanksgiving as well. What dates do people have in mind? do we want to meet the 1st of December or the week after. I'm actually not in town for most of the week of Nov. 30th. I'm open the week after BUT if the vote is for the 1st - I totally understand. Thoughts?

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving - I'm off to the Andes!
Cheers,
Sara
As some of you may know, I am on club hiatus until March. I have been offered a job in Lowell, and I now need to take night classes. Classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays. Hopefully, time will fly, and I'll see you all soon.

FYI - I was supposed to do the next list as well.
Week after T-day please! hasn't arrived from Amazon yet but with Grandma taking care of the baby I should have plenty of time to read over the holiday.

I DID read Suite Francais also from Sara's list - it was excellent!
After Thanksgiving!
Hi there!

I don't have the book (yet!) but would really love to partake. I had the sense that bookclub would be a hybrid Nov/Dec affair due to Turkey day. I could probably be ready for next Tues. but wonder how many will be out of town on Turkey business (including Sara, this month's sponsor!). Perhaps that post-Turkey week? I'm in town until Dec. 6! I have a meeting in Hartford on Tues. Dec. 1 but should be back in time for din-din. Or we could also do Western Bookclub (it's kind of Maine-ish out there ;)
I also vote after Thanksgiving. Next week would be tough for me.
I vote for pushing it off until after Thanksgiving....
Any updates on when we should meet? Technically a month is this week but obviously we haven't touched base so not sure that it should be an option. Would next Tuesday work for people? I know it's Thanksgiving week so we if we push it off, we can.
